TRIG-STAR CONTEST

Does your public relations lack the attention it should get because you’re so busy working?

Are you concerned with the future of your profession?  Let’s get our youth involved in surveying by sponsoring Trig-Star (a high school trigonometry skill awards program) with your local high school.  The new school year is here and it’s time to get your sponsorship application(s) sent in.  You can sponsor more than one school.

Students of your high school will compete against one another to complete a survey related timed trigonometry test.  Your school winner's test score will also be used for state competition. (State winner will receive $1,000 and for sponsoring trig. teacher $1,000, 2nd place student will receive $500 teacher will receive $500 and 3rd place student will receive $250 teacher will receive $250.)  In addition to any awards at the local and state level, the state Trig-Star winner will be eligible to compete for $2,000, $1,000, and $500 scholarship prizes at the national level.

SAMSOG has purchased a state license for Trig-Star for the 2009-2010 school year.  There will be NO individual sponsor fees this year.

I will mail the 2009-2010 test and answers to you.  Please let me know the name of the school or schools you are sponsoring and the test date.  This year we are going to give the entire test and the winner will be determined by the highest score.  If there is a tie in the score, the winner will be determined by the quickest time.  For additional info on Trig-Star, visit This website includes sponsor resources, a plaque order form, and contact people to answer any questions you may have.

The deadline for getting all test packets back to me is April 23, 2010.
